CHRISTMAS
IN DUBAI
I
had met one of the directors of one of the biggest companies here in Ghana and
had the chance to share the gospel with him a couple of times. He has planned
to spend the Christmas with his family by taking a vacation in Dubai.
Everything has been put in place for the enjoyment of this trip: the clothes,
the hotel, the shops and other tourist areas to visit, I mean everything. To my
amazement, he requested for Christmas carols as well. This was quite surprising
to me. Why? I will tell you.
He
has a believe that this JESUS that we talk about is simply one of the numerous “religious”
talks and should not be heeded to any seriously than the other religions. Amazingly,
these carols he requested for as part of his travel package to Dubai all talks
about “Hark the herald angels sing, Glory
to the NEW BORN KING; Silent Night, Holy Night…Christ the savior is born”
and so on. Then I ask myself, who is this new born king in the carols he wanted?
Who is this SAVIOR OF THE WORLD these carols are talking about? So what goes
through his mind when these songs are being sung? How does he even sing it?
Ironically he enjoys his children singing such songs as it is being played at
home and whiles he drives them to shop at the mall. Is it just about the songs
for the celebration of the season?
I
also encountered a man from Geneva who was also taking a Christmas vocation with
his family. He enjoys the season and the songs with his family, but cannot come
to terms with the reality of the lyrics of the song he sings.
Everything
about this season of Christmas gets me excited, joyful and keeps me smiling: the
songs, the programmes, Christmas shows organized by different groups of people,
the atmosphere and even the very air I breath seems to carry some chills of joy
down my soul, all because it is Christmas! I realise that it is a season where
everyone is having a good time and in a happy mood, just celebrating the
season.
In
as much as we celebrate this season, let us do so with the right mentality, IT
IS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS! It is about the CELEBRATION OF GOD’S LOVE to
mankind by sending his son as an ETERNAL GIFT to man. This gift, just like any
other Christmas gift is FREE, you can accept this gift by believing in your
heart and confess with your mouth that indeed Jesus is Lord and God raised him
from the dead, then you are free to access this BIG LOVE in God for the rest of
your life.
CHRIST IS THE REASON FOR CHRISTMAS. Don’t
waste the opportunity, take advantage of God’s love this season. Share his love
with someone, buy someone gifts, but most importantly, share God’s love with
them. Keep Enjoying Grace!
