JESUS, THE DONKEY, AND YOU.
It
is no mistake to let us know that, things that happen in the old are because of
us, so that we can understand situations better in our lives today.1 When
this young man was growing up, I wonder how his life was. All those times that
he went through education, both at home, in church and everywhere, I wonder
what his colleagues and people older than him were thinking. This is because,
His talks were bigger than him, and it never reflected that he was a son of a
mere carpenter who doesn’t even own a house in his hometown. Pity huh!
He
had to undergo training and experiences for about 30 years in order to carry
out just a three year assignment, which climax is marked by the season we all
are holidaying in Ghana and the rest of the world today.
I
remember the day he told his disciples to go fetch the donkey in order to
fulfil what was written about him, I’m sure they were surprised!! A DONKEY!!??
Wait a minute, donkeys are meant for carrying loads, not human beings, not to
talk of you, OUR LORD AND MASTER!! Why not go in for a horse?? A horse is more
prestigious, and can better identify with your status as MASTER!! But still, he
went for the donkey, one that was not even good enough to function as a donkey (that
is can’t even carry any load-as useless, humiliated and helpless as it was).
Finally, poor little donkey
arrived, and guess what; the disciples spread their cloak on it, and the King
of Glory sat on it. WOW.. the stone which had been rejected, it is that which
has become the capstone!! As the donkey humbled itself and Jesus SAT on it, His DIGNITY, GLORY, BEAUTY, PRAISE, HAIL
were all enjoyed by the donkey FREE of charge. Then it rode Him throughout the
town, riding on the cloaks of the same people who never regarded its potential
as a donkey.. HOW IRONICALLY SPLENDID!!!
It
is the same with you and me, if we understand who we were and how JESUS pulled
us up to enjoy his glory FREE of
charge, we will always long deep with Him. All we have to do is HUMBLE
ourselves for the master(just like the donkey), and AS HE RIDES ON US THROUGHOUT OUR STAY ON EARTH, EVERYBODY WILL HEAR
ABOUT HIS GLORY, OUR GLORY; HIS BEAUTY, OUR BEAUTY; HIS WORTH, OUR WORTH; HIS
DIGNITY, OUR DIGNITY!!!.
